Shutdown nuclear plants in India in a phased programme

Nuclear plants threaten the very existence of life in the Earth. Every nuclear plant is an Atom bomb. We have not learned a lesson from explosion of major nuclear plants like Three Mile Island, Chernobyl and other accidents. The Fukushima disaster in Japan has once again brought to fore the issue of the safety of nuclear plants. Massive protests have been taking place all over the world against nuclear plants. Nuclear power is by far the most dangerous component of the hard energy sources. At the same time it is  the most inefficient and uneconomical source of energy. A recent analysis has compared the cost of producing electricity from various fuels. Coal based thermal power plants cost Rs 4.5 crore per MW; turbine running on gas or naphtha cost Rs 3 crore per MW; nuclear reactor Rs 7 to 10 crore per MW. This is the most expensive form of energy in the world. Waste disposal of plant is also very serious problem. Its radiation will last for generations. India is one of the most populated regions in the world. Nuclear plants are most  unsuited for India .The nuclear plants in India should be shut down in a phased programme.
